About

Ovisual builds trading software to order: custom indicators, automated strategies, backtesting and the research tooling around them. The work is the unglamorous half of quantitative trading — taking an idea that lives in a chart annotation or a spreadsheet and turning it into code that runs, can be tested, and behaves the same way tomorrow as it did today.

What gets built

  • Custom indicators. Oscillators, channels, filters, volume and order-flow studies, built from your rules and plotted the way you read a chart — not a preset with the parameters renamed.
  • Strategy implementation. Entry, exit and position-sizing logic coded as a working automated strategy, with order handling, partial fills, session boundaries and the platform’s edge cases dealt with rather than ignored.
  • Backtesting. Historical testing on tick or bar data, with the assumptions written down: fill model, slippage, commission, data quality, and what the result does and does not prove.
  • Optimisation and validation. Parameter sweeps, walk-forward analysis and out-of-sample testing, aimed at finding out whether an edge survives outside the window it was fitted on.
  • Risk management. Daily loss limits, per-trade risk caps and sizing rules built into the strategy itself, so they still apply on the days willpower does not.
  • Data and research tooling. Market data pipelines, custom bar types, feature extraction and research notebooks — the groundwork that has to exist before a strategy is worth writing.

Platforms and tools

Most of the work is NinjaTrader 8 — indicators, strategies, custom bar types and add-ons in C# — alongside Python for research, data handling and backtest harnesses. If you trade somewhere else, say so early and we can work out whether the idea ports cleanly.

How a project runs

  1. You describe the rules — in writing, on a chart, or in whatever half-finished form they currently exist.
  2. We agree on a specification: what triggers a trade, what closes it, how size is decided, and what counts as done.
  3. The code is written and tested against historical data, then run forward on simulation before it sees a live account.
  4. You get the full source, documented, plus the test results and their caveats. It is yours to keep, read and modify.

A note on expectations

This is a software service, not a signal service, a managed account or investment advice. A backtest is a measurement of the past under stated assumptions, not a forecast — and plenty of good-looking ideas do not survive contact with out-of-sample data. Trading futures, forex and other leveraged instruments carries substantial risk of loss. What is on offer here is careful implementation and honest testing, so you can decide for yourself what your idea is worth.
